Background: Historically fish entrails have been regarded as waste products. Today, the aquaculture industry has to pay large sums to dispose these remnants of fish processing. Within the recent years this trend turned and nowadays the focus is on using these by-products for providing pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and health-food, as well as taste enhancers, food supplements or animal feed.
Other important factors with regard to animal feed is to provide products which give significant weight enhancement, are easy to produce and exclude at the same time hazards like for example BSE. The commercial basis for this technology is a combination of patent and trademark protection. The patent family with the title “Bioactive peptides, uses thereof and process for production of the same” protects in general novel bioactive peptide compositions, a general process for producing of the same and the use of such compositions for enhancing the growth of warm blooded animals and fish. The patent family is closely linked to the trademark family “PeptiGard” which is presently protected as Community trademark, as well as a trademark in Japan, Norway and the USA. Below you will find general information regarding the patent family. For detailed information regarding this patent family please contact our IP Manager, Mr. Alexander Bjørnå.
