Biotec Pharmacon on 4 September presents its clinical program with SBG for cancer at the ECCP conference, a joint meeting between Oslo Cancer Cluster and Toulouse Cancer-Bio-Sante in France.Biotec Pharmacon will focus on the immune stimulating effects of the bioactive substance SBG and monoclonal antibodies (mAb) on different forms of cancer. The company will also present its program with SBG for prevention and treatment of oral mucositis, a common and potentially serious side-effect of radio therapy for head and neck cancer.
The company is nearing completion of its first clinical phase III study with SBG for oral mucositis (severe ulcers in the mouth), whereas the immune therapy of cancer studies are in the final stage of phase I/II. In these studies SBG is being used in combination treatments with monoclonal antibodies (mAb) for treatment of neurobslastoma in children, for breast cancer and for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The first of these studies is being carried out at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in the US, and the other two at Ullevål University Hospital and the Norwegian Radium Hospital, respectively.
The conference in Toulouse is the first European Cancer Cluster Partnering event, and seeks to strengthen the relationships between young and innovative companies in the field of cancer and potential partners within the international biopharmaceutical industry and in the investment community. The companies presenting on the ECCP cover different fields within oncology, such as diagnostics, therapies and drug delivery.
Biotec Pharmacon is a member of Oslo Cancer Cluster. The company warmly supports initiatives like the ECCP, which can become a driver for the development of new products that can improve the ways we find, prevent and treat different forms of cancer.
The strategic co-operation between Oslo Cancer Cluster, Toulouse Cancèropole and Cancer-Bio-Santè Cluster was initiated in November last year, with an aim to become the leading cancer centres in Europe for developing new cancer therapies.
The presentation will be made available as from September 4, and may be viewed by clicking.
